How do u know if an online business is legitimate?

I would like to be able to know if a business online is legitimate before providing personal information or credit card information.

check the better business bureau. it’s at www.bbb.org . you can enter the business name & they’ll tell what complaints there are against the company.

"If a company requires initial payment from you in order to work for them, they are not legitimate."

There are a few legitimate data entry companies but are not hiring and have large waiting lists (1-2yrs). The majority of data entry jobs you seen online are scams. A real company will want you to have skills inc fast typing, may want you to know MS Excel, and will usually ask that you have high speed internet. Once in a long while you may found one online on a job website but thats rare.

If you do an advanced search on yahoo, you will find previous answers, sometimes the info on these is good as the info they gave is likely to have been verified if the answer was voted as ‘Best’.

Anyone have a successful online retail business?

How long did it take you to start making money? How much investment did you first put in? Any tips for those who are making it?
Please no pyramids, affiliates, etc. I’m not interested in those.

I do. I started making my retail profits right away. I started making my commissions the following month. I started for less than $50 and it has been the best investment I have ever made. Best part is that it is easy to get team members because anyone can afford $50 if they are serious about starting a business. If they aren’t then it is best to know it so I can move on! If they don’t have enough confidence in themselves to put in $50 for their own business, why would they think I would spend my valuable time and resources to set "them" up in a business? That is just common sense of business start-up. It is small but helps weed out the people who are looking for something for nothing and don’t want to work.

Best tips that I can give is to know how to look for the right business so that you don’t get scammed or invest too much money on a business that isn’t right for you.

I can offer an article if anyone wants it that teaches you what to look for, what to avoid and questions to ask in determining if the opportunity is right for you and if the company is legit.

It is too long for answers messager so if anyone wants it just email me from your personal email at bonnieram1962@yahoo.com and let me know that you need tips on finding the right home business.

I have excelled in the company very quickly as I have worked hard to reach my goals. But it as paid off as I have reached Diamond level, organized our first regional training meeting and also hold quarterly training meetings. I was also selected to be listed in the Biltmore Who’s Who Among Executives and Professionals. So I am not just here to recruit. I am here to help.

I wish you all the best of luck in whatever you do and will be glad to help anyone who wishes to request it.

I am experience this right now, it can be very difficult if you don’t have the tools or someone that will share the secrets of what you need to know. There are a lot of scams out there, but there are also people that will really give you what you need to know. It will take an concerted effort on your part. You have to treat it as a business and not a hobby. Do your research, because a good! program to get into will cost you some money but it can be done with the right information. http://wealthbuilder360.blogspot.com

im looking for ways to maybe start are own clothing line. are maybe just create are own successful internet business.

Being an internet business owner and the owner of a successful business online are two different things. The downside of the internet is the fact that it allows anyone the chance to own their own business online. Research/education are what separates most. There are a few great web hosts out there that have a great track record for assisting the beginner. I suggest that you do your homework before getting involved. Having your own clothing line may not be in your best interest. The web host that I use, has tools to check the profitability of your business idea. If you would like to check out them as one of your options, you can find them at http://www.tobuildyour.com

Any help please?

Also I seen Frank Castle is helpful in this area, any help from you?
I have "ideas of hwat I might sell, but not how?

Also how to get people to your site. Advertising?

One article that I found very useful is "7 Steps to Successful Web Site Development" http://www.powerhomebiz.com/vol142/website.htm as it takes to you all the decision steps that you need to take when starting an online business. Like any other business, startup period is full of "should I do this" or "should I do that" questions. The article is useful because it helps you think through every step of the way – from why do you want a website to who is your audience to how will you create your website to how you will market your new website.

Here are the steps you need to take when creating your online business:

STEP 1: Set Your Goals – Why do you want a web site? What is the size of the online market? What are the goals for your website?

STEP 2: Develop Your Web Site Strategy – Who is your website target audience? What typically appeals to your target audience? How are the other websites (your competition) reaching out to this target audience? How will you measure your performance?

STEP 3: Set-Up Implementation Plans – What name will you give to your site? How do you envision the design of your web site? How will you create your website? How will you create your content? How will you maintain your website?

STEP 4: Start the Ball Rolling – Do you have a logo? For e-retailers, do you have the critical components needed to run an e-commerce site? How are you going to host your site?

STEP 5: Create and Launch Your Web Site – Have you uploaded your site with your chosen web host provider? Are the scripts and application you need for your website functioning well? Have you tested your website?

STEP 6: Promote Your Web Site and Measure Its Results – Do you have a plan in place to market your website? Do you regularly review your traffic logs and web site performance tracker? How are you going to get sites to link to you? Do you know the search engine keywords that you rank well? If your site is not visible in the search engine results pages for its keywords, what strategies do you intend to do?

STEP 7: Maintain Your Website and Grow Your Web Business – Continue to find ways to grow your web business. How do you intend to continue your education on web development?

As for getting traffic, here are some shoestring marketing ideas that can help you get the visitors you need at the least cost possible:

1. Create the best content you can with the best products you can possibly offer. Your content is your best advertisement – if visitors love your content, then they will go back and spread the word to others.

2. Make it easy for users to recommend your site. Viral marketing is very important — and easy to tap on the Web. But give your users the tools. Get a Recommend this Site script from websites such as cgiscripts.com and similar directories of scripts. Some even go as far as giving incentives to those who recommend the site to their friends. If only 10 people go to your site, but these 10 people invite 10 more – that’s additional traffic that you get for FREE!

3. Rank well in the search engines (organic search results, not the pay per click). SEs can be a big source of traffic. The key is to create the best content in your niche. If you have good content, other websites will gladly link to you and offer your site as a resource to their audience. Check the on-page factors and be sure to get linked from authority sites in your topic area.

If you are going to read only one piece on search engine optimization, I suggest you read Brett Tabke of WebmasterWorld.com’s "Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone: 26 steps to 15k a day." http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm

4. Send out press releases. While outfits charge as much as $650 per release, there are free press release submission places on the Web. Press releases allow you to (a) attract media attention; (b) get more back links to your website without sending each website an email request; and (c) get more visibility especially if your press release gets in Google News or Yahoo News. My website (see my profile) accepts free press release submission (no strings attached!)

5. Submit articles. Write articles and submit them to websites accepting author submissions. You get exposure for your business; establishes you as an authority in your field, and allows you to get backlinks for your website. If 50 websites publish your article and it contains a link back to your website, then you easily get 50 links from a single article. The more links you have, the greater your chances for increasing your search engine rankings.

6. Improve your conversion. Getting visitors is one thing; getting them to buy your products is a whole different story. Read the article "10 Ways to Convert Visitors to Buyers" http://www.powerhomebiz.com/072005/conversion.htm for tips on how to improve your conversion rates.

Either on eBay or otherwise… I have lately been getting into jewelery making and handmade items, but other than myself, it would be great to get my family involved in it as well. I don’t know much about wholesale sources, or drop-shipping, so any ideas, tips, or anything learned from experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is an online magazine a profitable business ?

I am planning to start an online magazine that will tackle and feature topics about education. Can you advise as to what steps to follow to get it started and possible tips to make it profitable.

Offer previews of small parts of the magazine, and make sure your website is neat, organized, and looks great!
